Chinese Language Instruction
Chinese language classes are available in Oak Park at The Paper Lantern Language and Cultural Center.
Jenny Chen (Chen Lao shi) has provided language instruction to many FCC families in the past. Some of these families recently opened The Paper Lantern to provide a dedicated space where Jenny can continue providing instruction comfortably and conveniently.
The Paper Lantern is located at 811A North Harlem Avenue – at the corner of Harlem and Chicago Avenues.
Jenny will still be leading the teaching team and managing the curriculum. Class format and structure will remain the same, as well as the "fun" that she builds into each class.
Fall classes will begin on September 13th, and now is the time to enroll.
In addition to the scheduled classes, Paper Lantern provides private language instruction and customized classes (i.e. 'Chinese for Travelers' with your travel group, or a small weekly class for a group of friends).

Community
We also raise money to support organizations that are changing the lives of children in China. These organization feed, clothe, educate and provide much-needed medical services to children who are still living in orphanages in China.
Each year we hold two, two-day garage sales -- one in the Spring and one in the Fall -- and the proceeds are given to a non-profit organization working for children in China.
The organizations we support include: Half the Sky, Love Without Boundaries and Our Chinese Daughters Foundation.
We also enjoy a strong partnership with the China Care Club at Northwestern University.
